Authority
Authority is in the broadest sense a position that ascribe to people, institutions or individuals. People who has an authority is a model for many who directed on him in thought and action. Authority is not an attribute that is inherent in a person or an organization.
In business life the importance of authority is not difficult to understand. Because success depends largely on the leadership quality of the supervisor and hence of his authority. Otherwise they can not realize the business objectives (internal/external).
In business, we can distinguish three types of authority:
• The personal authority of a manager is in their character.
• The formal authority is derived from the organizational structure of a company.
• The functional authority is derived from the professional qualification of a manager. It arises from the knowledge and ability of a person on one or more subject areas.

These authorities are complementary. In particular, the personal and functional authority are important. If a supervisor has good technical skills, but shows weakness of character, then his authority is threatened. The problem is just the reverse case: If a manager has the necessary personal charisma, but it is missing on her solid technical skills, it also undermines their authority.
I think Authority is in the family life important, too. For example if you had a child. But authority should not be exaggerated whether in the family or in business life.
